Welcome

Hello, little dreamers and the grown-ups who read to them! Come in, get comfortable, and wander through my little world of  Beyond the Pond.

The first book of many.

Beyond the Pond

"Written with care for curious little ones, Beyond the Pond is a gentle tale of courage, friendship and belonging."

This story is a picture book for little readers aged 3–5 years, following a curious baby grasshopper who dreams of discovering what lies beyond the pond.

As an early childhood teacher, I believe the early years are a special time for children to build confidence, develop a strong sense of who they are, form meaningful friendships, and discover where they feel safe, valued and connected.

Through this story, I hope to gently encourage children to be brave, embrace who they are, build connections with others, and know that they have a place where they belong.

A little about me

Jamie-Lee

Every story begins with a daydream.

The story behind the story

It all started with a little grasshopper.

While working in early childhood education, I spotted a grasshopper on the floor, all on his own. I couldn't stop wondering where he had come from, where he was going, and what adventures he might find along the way.

That small moment stayed with me and became the beginning of Beyond the Pond.

I wanted to write a story that encourages little ones to be curious, to be brave, and to feel comfortable being exactly who they are, while reminding them that a whole world of wonder is waiting to be discovered.

And so, a little grasshopper with a big dream came to life.

Little things that inspire me

Stories find me when I'm still in nature. Beneath the trees, under a wide sky, I listen to the rustle of leaves and the hush of the forest. I let my thoughts drift into daydreams, and the ideas follow, gently, like they were waiting all along.
